“As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.” 1 Peter 4:10
Our purpose is to make and mature disciples for Christ. It is God who accomplishes this purpose, but it is the Spirit who entrusts each believer with spiritual gifts to be used by God to accomplish our purpose. At First, each individual is encouraged to be a faithful steward of God’s gifts by serving the body, the community, and the world.
Serve the Body
One doesn’t need an official position to serve the church body, as service can happen just though a loving conversation or a selfless act for a brother or sister in Christ. We do have several teams that individuals in the church can join to serve others. Some of the ministry teams at First include the following:
- worship team
- security team
- welcome team
- grounds team
- children’s ministry team
- nursery team
- deaf ministry team
- audio/visual ministry team
Serve the Community
We strive to be faithful as a church to reach out to our community through each one of us sowing the gospel in the relationships that we already have in the community. As a church, we provide other opportunities to serve the community with the Gospel through yearly outreach events, English as a second language classes, a ministry booth at the County Fair, addiction groups, and more.
Serve the World
Our call to make and mature disciples for Christ is not limited to our local area – Jesus called his disciples to go into all the world. Because of this calling, we partner with individuals and ministries all over the world who are making and maturing disciples for Christ in places we are not. Through prayer, care, financial support, and partnering in ministry, First Baptist has partnered with around 15 ministries in 11 countries over 6 continents.
